Educational Services for Children and Adults with Learning Differences

Summer Classes for students struggling
with reading and/or writing skills

Sanford Shapiro, founder of the Bend Learning Center, and national dyslexia trainer, will be leading two Reading and Writing Development classes this summer. Classes will be for children in grades K-1 and those in grades 3-5.

Both classes are designed to help children with learning differences develop effective strategies for reading, writing, and spelling. These three-week “language-training” classes will focus on phonemic awareness (the K-1 group), phonics, decoding skills and fluency for reading, and sound-blending strategies for spelling, as well as integrated handwriting instruction.

The Bend Learning Center uses a research-based, multi-sensory approach approved by the National Reading Panel.
