We conduct “social thinking” groups for kids that struggle with
‘perspective taking’ abilities, and are awkward with the mechanics of social skills.
Those with Asperger’s Syndrome, ADHD, or High Functioning Autism can benefit from our groups.
What our kids have in common is their struggle to read and understand subtle and unwritten social expectancies.
It’s painful and anxiety producing to be an otherwise bright child for whom peer relations are difficult.
“Social Thinking” is based on a series of navigational tools that increase
perspective-taking and help kids try out social problem-solving. Only with understanding and practice,
do social skills generalize to real world application.
