We hold “social thinking” groups for kids with similar
‘perspective taking’ abilities.
Those with Asperger’s Syndrome, ADHD, Disorders of Executive Functions or
High Functioning Autism can all benefit from our groups.
What some kids have in common is their struggle to read and understand the often subtle and
unwritten social expectancies.
It’s painful and anxiety producing to be an otherwise bright
child or teenager for whom peer relations is difficult.
“Social Thinking” is based around a
series of navigational tools that increase perspective-taking. Only with understanding and
practice of the “why” do social skills have a chance of generalizing to productive real world
application.
